项目摘要

本研究の目的は、考証学と戯作との関わりを明らかにすることで、雅俗にわたる近世後期の文化・社会のなかに戯作を位置づけることである。具体的には、各戯作作品の個別的分析を進めると共に、戯作者の交遊関係を明らかにし、その中で入手し得たであろう情報や資料を解明した。１、山東京伝の合巻の、挿絵や本文の典拠を明らかにすることをとおして、自身の考証の成果を、作中で巧みに利用していることを指摘し、読本とは異なる方法でそれらの資料が利用されていることから、京伝が草双紙の読者層に意識的であったことを指摘した。この成果は「京伝『籠釣瓶丹前八橋』における〈絵馬の怪異〉」として『上方文藝研究』に掲載した。２、京伝作の合巻と小枝繁の読本において同じ『剪灯新話句解』の作品が挿話として利用されていることを指摘したうえで、繁の作品においては、先行する京伝合巻の挿絵をも併用していることを明らかにし、繁が京伝作品の典拠を読み解いていたこと、文化文政期の戯作者が、異なるジャンルであっても近い時期に刊行された作品に目を配り、独自の工夫を施していることを指摘した。この成果は「小枝繁の先行作品利用」として『読本研究新集』に掲載した。３、秋田藩お抱え絵師菅原洞斎が文化三年頃より主催していた古書画展観会の成果の一部である『画師姓名冠字類鈔』の調査を行い、洞斎への資料・知識提供者の名前や素性を明らかにした。また、京伝が洞斎に借用した資料を用いた考証記事が収められていること、洞斎に考証に関する意見を求める京伝の書簡が存することを指摘し、両者が考証の協力者同士であったことを述べた。このことは、幕臣を中心とする考証趣味のネットワークと、戯作者である京伝とが、洞斎を通してつながり、資料や知識を共有し得たことを示す。この成果は「山東京伝の考証と菅原洞斎―『画師姓名冠字類鈔』に見る考証趣味のネットワーク―」として『国語国文』に掲載した。
