项目摘要

メタ認知とは、自身の認知状態をモニタリングしコントロールする高次の認知機能である。この認知能力はヒト特有のものと考えられてきたが、近年の研究により幅広い動物群に共有されていることが示唆されつつある。しかしこれまでの研究では「当該動物がメタ認知能力を有するか」に焦点が当てられ、ヒトとヒト以外の動物がもつメタ認知の質的相違点については検討されていない。そこで本研究はヒトとヒト以外の動物がもつメタ認知の質的差異を検討し、得られた知見からメタ認知の進化過程を考察することを目指す。前年度は、ラットの事前に情報を収集する行動(予見的な情報希求行動)について検討した。課題解決のために情報希求が必要なエリアと必須ではないエリアを同時提示した場合、ラットは将来手がかりが除去されるエリアで長く探索行動を行うような予見的な情報希求行動は見せなかった。そこで令和３年度は、その課題を発展させ、先のエリア選択を繰り返し経験することで、予見的な情報希求行動が出現するかを検討した。するとラットは徐々に弁別課題エリアでも情報探索を行うことを学習できることが明らかとなった。同様の実験状況を用いたヒト幼児や一部鳥類における先行研究では、課題を繰り返し経験せずとも、課題の初期から適切な予見的な情報希求行動を示すことが報告されている。この差異は種差を示唆しているのかもしれない。さらに続く実験では“今利用できる情報の有無”によってラットの情報希求行動が変化するかを検討した。手がかり物体があるエリアとないエリアとでどちらに長く滞在するかを分析したところ、ラットはごく初期から情報のある（手がかりのある）エリアでの探索を長く行った。つまり、今回用いた実験状況において、ラットは現在利用できる情報に対しては適切な情報希求行動を示すが、将来に向けた予見的な情報希求行動は示さないことが明らかとなった。
