Together with the depelopment of synthetic detergents, as well as with the changes in the life-style and life-senses and also with the betterment of income, the electric washing machine for home use has become very popularized, resulting in a great decrease in the labor of housechores. However, on the ogher hand the mechanization of washing has led to the use of large quantities of washing water and detergents, as compared to manual washing. In the present day washing, which depends largely on mechanized power, defects such as, unlevel washing, fabric damage and fabric intertwinement by washing requires much improvement. Also, in nowadays washing which lays stress on the appearance and feeling, give priority to the prevention of accidents during washing and neglect the original purpose of washing.This being the case, in the present study, an investigation was made on the trial manufacture of foam electric washing machine. Also, particular interest was laid on the prevention of water contamination and environmental pollution. Furthermore, due consideration was given to the prevention of damage and deterioration of clothing. In the foam washing machine, the clothing is not steeped directly in the detergent liquid, but instead,it utilizes small amounts of the foam of the detergent liquid and is an ultra low bath rate and warming type washing method.The foam washing machine consists of a fan which blows hot air into the detergent liquid, tank which serves as a receptacle of the detergent liquid, laundry sink, defoaming apparatus for the heating and shower type, and rinsing shower. First of all, turn on the switch for the fan, which sends hot air to the detergent liquid which is heated beforehand to approximately 50[70゜C and as a result, foam produced at a temperature of 50[70゜C dampens the clothing and also rinses. The soiled foam is broken in the defoaming apparatus and discharged. After 5[15 minutes, the valve at the bottom is released and rinsed by the shower. It also reveals and anti-bacterial effect comparable to that of the boiling type of washing which is commonly done in the U.S. and Europe consequently, avery higienic standard is maintained.Furthermore, in the foam washing method the clothing is not directly steeped in the washing solution, but is blown upward in the stationary state, consequently, there is no washing defect, fabric intertwinement by washing, or uneven washing. Also, thin materials which are easily deformed by mechanical pressure can be washed together with other ordinary fabrics.
