1) Non-destructive identification of fluorescent plant natural dyestaffs To find a suitable method to investigate the woven cultural properties, surface fluorescence of textiles due to the natural dyestaff was measured. "Benihana", "Kihada", and "Suoh" showed clear fluorescence spectra even when the appearence of clothes was almost decolorated.2) Analysis of the divided skirt of man's formal wear in Edo period The reason for the remarkable degradation of the textile was investigated in connection with the black dyestaff. It might be attributable to the presence of iron and copper as mordant. The X-ray analysis and infra red spectroscopy were used to study physical properties of txtiles.3) Effect of natural pigment on the prevention of textile from the damage done by insects It is investigated whether the natural dyestaffs are useful for the protection of the insect damage or not. The cotinil dyestaff on wool was proved to be useful for the prevention of the damage.
