2022年度は、交付申請書に記載した「本研究の目的」のうち③「中止形に所属する複数の形式を比較し、それらの意味・機能の重なりと異なりを明らかにし、中止形諸形式がなす体系を記述する」ことを達成するため、動詞の第二中止形（「シテ」）と「シテカラ」の使い分けに関する比較分析を試みた。複文の記述的研究において、シテは中止形節、シテカラは時間節といった形で、両形式が共通の枠組みで分析されており、かつ、両形式の共通点・相違点について明らかにされていなかったが、本研究では連用形という構文的機能および時間関係の表現という意味的特徴において共通する形式としての枠組みを採用した。さらに、両形式の体系的な比較・分析のため、時間関係のみならず因果関係や意味役割といった観点であることを確認した。そのうえで、観察・分析のために使用するデータについて、書籍等の書き言葉が中心であったものを、より日常的な言語活動に即したデータに基づいた分析を行なうため、会話コーパス（日本語日常会話コーパス）より収集することとした。データの特性や数的偏りの確認も含めてデータの整備を行ない、分類・分析に使用している。分類・分析においては、より使用頻度の高いシテを中心に、シテカラとの言い換えを検討し、文構造、因果関係、意味役割といった共通の構文的特徴による記述を行なっている。以上の内容について2022年1月、3月に行なった口頭発表に基づき、論文執筆を進めており、2023年度中に実績として公開する予定である。
