中世後期から近世にかけての帝国都市アウクスブルクにおける公衆衛生と健康ポリツァイの実態解明を目指す本研究は、新型コロナ感染症の世界的流行（パンデミック）を経験して歴史的な疫病研究の重要性が高まっている現状を踏まえ、とくに中・近世アウクスブルクにおけるペスト対策の展開に着目し、これまで研究代表者が進めてきた都市環境史という領域に疫病・感染症という要素を付け加えることで新たな中・近世ヨーロッパの都市像を提示することを最終的な目標としている。初年度は、これまでの成果を踏まえた本研究プロジェクトの意義と今後の展望について、成城大学経済研究所の第92回講演会にて「黒死病後の社会―繰り返すペスト被害と都市の疫病対策」と題して講演を行った（2022年10月15日）。本講演については、2023年5月に成城大学経済研究所『年報』にて活字化される予定である。また、中世後期に帝国都市アウクスブルクにて疫病対策と同時並行的に実施されたユダヤ共同体への施策について予備的考察を行い、早稲田大学プロジェクト研究所のヨーロッパ中世・ルネサンス研究所研究会にて「帝国都市アウクスブルクのユダヤ共同体に関する予備的考察」と題する口頭報告を行った（2023年1月21日）。両報告では、疫病の流行期と流行期との狭間期に、都市がどのような疫病対策を実施しようとしたのか（あるいはしなかったのか）を考察する視点の重要性を指摘し、今後の具体的な検討課題を提示することができた。また、本研究プロジェクトの課題と展望を整理した口頭発表（2021年11月実施）の報告要旨が、『比較都市史研究』（41号、2022年12月、1-2頁）に掲載された。
