项目摘要

本研究は、中・近世において飛躍的な発展を遂げた寺院を中核に形成された日本の宗教都市を取り上げ、そこでみられる子院の成立・集合過程をあとづけて、寺院を母胎に宗教都市が成立していく様子を明らかにしようとしたものである。本年度は高野山を素材とした研究を発展させると共に、比較事例として醍醐寺を事例として取り上げることとした。まず、前者の成果として、これまでの研究が依拠していた『大日本古文書』『高野山文書』『紀伊続風土記』の所収史料等以外にも、東京大学史料編纂所の所蔵にかかる「島津家文書」及び「高野山旧記」が高野山の都市・建築史研究に資する貴重な史料を多数含んでいることが明らかになった。これらは院内堂の修理に関する史料や子院建築の指図・造営史料など多岐にわたっている。現在では史料の概況を把握した段階に過ぎないが、今後この史料の分析により精緻に高野山史を跡付けることが可能になると思われる。また、後者については、正保年間に醍醐寺でも「谷」に分けて、堂塔の把握を行っていることが判明した。同年代の山内を網羅した史料は高野山においても確認されるので、おそらく江戸幕府による寺社の統制・再編の一環として山内の把握が行われたものと推測される。このように、中・近世の寺院における「谷」という存在が、子院の成立・集合過程を考察するときの有力な分析概念として使用可能であることが確認されるに至った。ただし、「谷」の概念自体はさらに検討が必要であることも明らかになった。これは「谷」の構成要素たる院・坊の実態が不鮮明なことによるものである。要素レベルの考察を深めて再検討することが今後の課題である。

This study focuses on the development of the Middle Ages and Modern Times, the formation of temples in the center, and the establishment of religious cities in Japan. This year's research on Takanoyama's materials has been carried out in a comprehensive manner. The results of the former research are based on the historical materials collected in the "Great Japanese Ancient Books,""Takanoyama Documents," and "Kiiki Folk Records." The historical materials collected in the "Shimadzu Family Documents" and "Takanoyama Old Records" of the University of Tokyo are valuable historical materials for the study of urban and architectural history of Takanoyama. The historical materials related to the repair of the courtyard hall and the construction of the courtyard building are diversified. The historical materials of the present time are analyzed in detail, and the historical records of the future are analyzed in detail. The latter is the case, and during the period of Zhengbao, the temple is divided into two parts, and the tower is grasped. In the same period, the mountain's historical data was collected, and the mountain's control was confirmed. The concept of powerful analysis of the existence of the temple, the establishment of the temple and the process of assembly is examined. The concept of "valley" itself is necessary. The composition of the valley is not clear. The key elements of the project were investigated and discussed again.
