文科科学省がH25.12.6に「今後の健康診断の在り方等に関する検討会」で, 現代の子どもたちの運動器の様々な課題を指摘し, その対応として学校において運動器に関する検診を行うこととなった。申請者が勤務する本校では千葉大学附属病院の整形外科医, 脊柱専門医が学校医としてこれまで健康診断を実施してきた経緯がある。そこで, 運動器検診の担い手として理想であると考えられる整形外科学校医による運動器検診を実施し, その方法や効果, 結果について検討し, 今後の運動器検診の基礎資料としていくことは運動器検診の今後に対して意義があると考えた。そこで運動器検診の実施方法等について千葉大学附属病院整形外科医と検討を重ね, 運動器検診のデータを経年的に蓄積するシステムを構築することと, 運動器検診の有効な実施方法に関する基礎研究をすること, 運動器不全予防教育の教材開発を行うことを研究目的とした。成果として, 運動器検診の実施方法等については, 公立学校で実施している検診に加えて, 成長期下肢柔軟性とスポーツ障害の発生に関する項目を加え, 体の柔軟性や足の形がスポーツ障害の原因なのかを調べることにした。現在毎月膝の痛みや運動量のアンケートを実施したり, 年間4回体位測定を実施し, 成長過程での障害の発生について調べている。また部活動指導教員とその部員に対して, 部活動の時間を使ってスポーツ障害に対する保健指導を実施し, その評価も行った。さらにDVD「運動器検診実施方法とその意味―保健調査票にそって―」を製作した。これは整形外科医が運動器検診の保健調査票の項目に沿って, 検診のやり方, また動作の意味, さらにスポーツ障害の症状の説明とストレッチのやり方について, 実際の検診場面を映像にし, 解説を加えている。RISE処置などのセルフケアについての解説も入れた。運動器不全の子どもの早期発見と予防教育教材として広く配布し活用を促した。
