【研究目的】本研究は, 資質・能力育成の中核教科としての社会科において, その目標達成にむけて, 「学習経験としての意味(レリバンス)」を子どもが実感するための, 「市民的挑戦」を促すパフォーマンス課題の開発・実践・検証が目的であった。それは, 社会科におけるパフォーマンス課題の多くが, 学び手に現実の文脈としての挑戦感を持たせられないこと, 評価による動機づけや自尊心への影響といった「学習経験としての意味」(レリバンス)を担保可能な課題の開発が要請されているからである。【研究方法】本研究は次の手続きで進めた。1 書籍購読や, 学会等への参加を通じて, 先行研究における社会科パフォーマンス課題を調査し, それらの傾向と問題点を分析した。2 「市民的挑戦」を内包する社会科パフォーマンス課題の要件抽出し, それに基づく授業を設計した。3 本校の研究発表会を通じて, 中学校社会科地理的分野における授業実践およびその成果を検証した。4 研究紀要, 学会発表, 実践報告, さらには教育雑誌への記事執筆等を通じて, 成果の広報を行った。【研究成果】以上により, 子どもが「学習経験としての意味(レリバンス)」を実感するパフォーマンス課題設定には, 「波及効果・影響」「責任」の要素を満たした上で, 「真に真正な課題」, 「真正な手続き」, 「真正な近さ」のいずれかを捉えるべきであることを明らかにした。さらに, 地理的分野「身近な地域」の授業実践を通して, これらの有効性を検証した。また, 本校が属する大学および他の附属中学校との共同により, 中学校社会科三分野における多様なパフォーマンス課題を例示した。
