1.研究の目的小学校の音楽科カリキュラムに位置づく「小学校段階における英語の歌曲に関する題材を開発」することを目的とする。2.研究の方法(1)英語歌曲の収集英語圏で古くから伝わり、現在も家庭や幼稚園などで活用されている「マザーグース」や、総合的な学習の先行研究で取り上げられている英語歌曲を収集し教材活用の有効性を吟味する。(2)比較鑑賞・授業公開英語の歌のコンサートを鑑賞し、日本語の歌と比較して感じ取ったことを記述させ、評価する。唱歌、わらべうた、マザーグースなどを追求するグループを構成し発表表現の後、感想交流を行う。(3)英語の詩や発音に関する実技講習韻に関する講習を受け、児童の発表曲に存在する韻について理解する。3.研究の成果(1)小学校段階に適切な英語歌曲の条件一音節中の母音や子音の数は、通常英語の方が多いため、歌唱表現における発音とリズム表現が技術的にやや高度になることが多い。児童の実態を観察した結果、小節数が少なく構成音が単純でありながら音楽的に優れている英語歌曲が音楽の教材としてふさわしいことがわかった。(2)比較鑑賞の有効性同一曲を日本語と英語で比較したり、日本に伝わる諸外国の歌と、日本古来のわらべうたを比較することにより、曲想の違いや文化の違いを感じ取ることができる。
