○研究目的 本研究は、評価がしにくいとされている幼児教育の「質」に焦点を当て、「エピソード記述」とベルギーで開発された「SICS」を用いて保育実践を評価することにより、保育者の実践感覚に合った保育の「質」を評価し改善するモデルを提示することを目的とする。○研究方法 本研究では、個人内の安心度と夢中度に注目するために対象児を設定した。その対象児のエピソード記述を積み重ねると共に、「SICS」の手続きに従い対象児の安心度と夢中度を評価し、カンファレンスを経て、援助の在り方を探った。○研究成果 「エピソード記述」と「SICS」を用いて保育を評価、改善することにより、以下のメリットが示唆された。1,「安心度」と「夢中度」という観点を与えられることで、カンファレンス参加者全員が、その共通の方向性を見据えながら議論することができる。2,「エピソード記述」を継続して行うことにより、「SICS」の場面以外での対象児の行動や心情をつないでみることができ、特に幼児の内面の理解に寄与することができる。両者を組み合わせることにより、対象児の理解が促進され、そこで明らかになった課題に向けて、具体的な援助の方向性が示されやすい。3,「SICS」は、予めFormが用意されていることで、幼児理解と援助の段階を無理なく進めることができる。以上のことから、「エピソード記述」と「SICS」を併用することにより、普段の保育を見直す視点が与えられ、保育の質の向上に寄与する可能性が示された。一方で以下の課題もあげられた。1,抽出するエピソードの質により、幼児理解やカンファレンスの議論が左右される。2,普段の保育の中で、エピソード記述やカンファレンスの時間を保障することが難しい。3,SICSが本来、「個人の理解と援助」を目指すのでなく「保育環境の見直し」のために作られているので、対象児理解とその援助を考える際には、あまり役に立たないと思われるFormも存在した。個人の援助に重きを置くのか、環境の見直しに重きを置くのかを焦点化する必要があり、その目的に向かって「SICS」を自分たちなりに作り直すことも必要だろう。「POMS」などの考えも取り入れる必要があると思われる。
