本研究では、学校図書館メディアを活用した協働的な出版学習を実施することを通じて、以下の点を明らかにすることが目指された。1、学校図書館を活用した探究型学習の具体的な実施方法と意義2、国語の教科としての本格的な出版学習の具体的な実施方法と意義このために、中学校3年の「総合的な学習の時間」の中で、社会科の教諭と合同で「地域研究のガイドブックをつくろう」という選択講座を開講し、25名の生徒とともに, これから地域研究をはじめる後輩を読者に想定して、ガイドブックを執筆・出版する授業を行った。研究の結果、それぞれについて得られた成果と課題は以下の通りである。1、「学校図書館を活用した探究型学習の具体的な実施方法と意義」に関して生徒も教員もこれまで学校図書館を活用した学習を行った経験に乏しかったが、今回の研究を通じて、これまでの先進的な学校の実践を踏まえながら、テーマの設定から発表に至る一連のプロセスを視野に入れた探究型学習のカリキュラムを作ることができた。図書館には大型モニターやPCなどのICT活用のための環境も整いつつあるが、より効果的に探究型学習を行うための環境整備や、レポートや論文の書き方についての学校全体の取り組みなど、課題も確認された。2、国語の教科としての本格的な出版学習の具体的な実施方法と意義国語科の四技能を伸ばす上で、出版学習の効果が非常に大きいことが確認された。本(文章)の構想・公正段階から、句読点などの表記に至るまで、特に中心となる役割の生徒たちには積極性と集中力が見られ、教育の効果が非常に高かった。しかし、授業外の負担が想像以上に大きく、通常の授業としてはなじまない点も明らかだった。40人学級の中で出版学習を行うには、電子書籍なども視野に入れて、より簡便な方法を模索する必要がある。学校図書館を舞台にした出版学習の効果の高さは明らかになったため、今後は、このような学習の成果を40人学級の中でどう実現していくかが課題である。
