项目摘要

本研究は、自律的で協働的な書き手を育成する授業の開発を目指したものである。具体的には、欧米圏の作文指導法writing workshopを日本に合う形で援用し、生徒が互いに関わりながら自由に書く体験を積み重ねることで、書き手としての自律性と協働性を高めることを目指した。研究は、日米の作文教育実践や協働教育実践を参照しつつ、授業実践を行う形で進められた。授業の様子を記録して検討し、授業改善を行うことを通じて、良い書き手を育てる授業法の開発を目指した。本研究の成果は次のようにまとめられる。まず、欧米圏のwriting workshopを日本で実践する際の留意点が明確になった。とりわけ、多くの場合40人学級である日本の学校では、教員が生徒個々の指導をすることが難しいため、生徒同士の作文交流と討議を指導の軸にする必要があることが明らかになった。加えて、その際の討議の質は、アクション・ラーニングの手法を援用した「質問中心の作文検討会」を繰り返し行うことによって高められることもわかった。これらの成果は、日本で効果的な作文指導を行う上で、極めて重要であると思われる。また、同時に明らかになったのは、書き手を育てる上での「読む」行為の持つ重要性である。本研究では教室に大量の本を置いたが、意欲のある生徒たちは必要に応じてその本を自主的に読みながら書く技量を伸ばしていった。「書く」技量の向上と読書には明らかに関連があると思われるが、それを踏まえた効果的な指導法については、今後さらに実践を深めていきたい。以上のように、本研究は一定の成果を収めたが、目的の一つである自律性を高める指導法の開発に関しては、まだ不充分であった。振り返りを何度も行い、自分の活動をモニタリングする機会を設けたが、自律できる生徒とそうでない生徒に分かれ、皆の自律性が充分に高まったとは言えなかった。これは今後の課題である。
