阪神大震災から約2年が経過し、PTSD(ここでは震災後ストレス障害)という言葉が、広く知られるようになった。震災後の健康状態の調査には高齢者を対象としたものは少ない。一方、近年わが国では、人口の稠密化と高齢化が問題となっている。そこで、高層マンションの高層階に居住する高齢者とその他の住居に居住する高齢者を対象に、震災が身体・精神の健康に与えた影響に関する調査を実施した。対象者は、地震から受けた被害の大きかった芦屋市の高層マンション(5階以上)に居住している60歳以上の高齢者とその他の住環境のものから抽出した。質問紙は、居住環境、転倒経験、生活満足尺度、運動習慣、喫煙・飲酒の習慣、ADLなどから構成されている。対象となった高齢者の平均年齢は68.6【plus-minus】6.0歳、平均BMIは22.8【plus-minus】3.7であった。ADLの尺度から判定すると身体能力の衰えた高齢者は含まれな高層階に居住するものとその他の居住環境のものとの間に満足度の差は見られず、ある程度満足している状態であった。しかし、項目ごとに満足度を見ていくと、自分の健康に対して不満を持つものがおよそ1割に見られ、経済的な生活水準、暮らし向きに関しては2割以上がやや不満と回答していた。震災の復興の進み方が異なり、その状況に満足していないものがわずかに見られるようだ。震災後に転居したいと考えるものは6.7%おり、高層階に居住するものであった。転倒経験のあるもので、震災後転倒しやすくなったと感じるものが約30%おり、復興による環境が変化したことや、まだ道路などの凹凸が完全に修繕されていないためと考えられる。震災後運動習慣がなくなったものが66.7%に見られた。高層階に居住しているものより、その他の居住環境のものに運動習慣のなくなったものが多かった。
