清代に行なわれた西南中国地方の一種の言語調査記録である西番訳語の諸資料に共通して記述されている約700語について相互参照の可能なデータベースを作成し,サンプルとして10語を取り上げ分布図を作成した。語彙データにチベット語カム方言からの借用語と思われる例を選んだ結果,いくつかの特徴が明らかになった。1 現代方言の記述調査報告を参照すると,固有語として記録されたものであっても,実は古い時代の借用語に由来すると思われる語彙が少なくない。2 チベット大蔵経の印刷所のあるデルゲ(徳格)がカム方言の中心都市であるが,そこから漢文化圏との境の町であるダルツェンドへ向け現在「川蔵公路」と呼ばれるルートに沿って,チベット民族の往来ととにカム方言が広まっていったらしい。以上の点からカム方言の伝播の歴史の解明の糸口とともに,周辺諸語がどのようにカム方言と接触したのがという歴史をも読み解くことができそうである。この地域のチベットビルマ系の諸語は類型構造が非常によく似ているため,従来の研究では文献資料より知られる古代チベット語の諸特徴をよく保存している遊牧民の言語がより古く,定着農耕民の言語がより新しいと考えられてきたが,その論拠となる基礎語彙に少なからぬ古い時代の借用語が存在するとなると,同地域の諸語の相互関係について単純な枝別れ発展型のモデルを想定するのは誤りであり,言語接触の歴史的プロセスを根本的に再検討してみる必要に迫られることがわかってきた。現在は語彙データの検索システムがほぼ形を整えた段階であるので,今後は現代諸方言の記述研究の成果を順次追加し相互参照が可能になるようにさらに整備して,特徴的な語彙の分布図を作成したいと考えている。
