本研究では,西夏語解読の一次資料である漢語との対訳語彙集『番漢合時掌中珠』の基礎語彙に的を絞り,音訳漢字および対訳の漢語語彙からの検索を容易にするとともに,西夏文字については原資料のマニュスクリプトの書影の画像データを添付して正確な出典を参照できるようにすることを目的として,西夏語データベースの基礎的研究に着手した。まず原資料の影印とその校勘本をたよりに『掌中珠』に現われる音訳漢字と対訳の漢語語彙のすべてについて,検索可能なテキストデータ(JIS漢字版,中国語GB簡体字版,中国語BIG5繁體字版)を作成した。『掌中珠』では西夏文字それぞれについて,その発音を音訳漢字で表記している。宋時代の中国西北地方の漢字音推定のための基礎的な情報である中期中国語の音韻範疇や復元音については,中国語音韻史の研究成果を参照して西夏語音の推定に必要な情報を選択しつつ現在も継続して入力中であるが,音声記号の表記など解決されていない問題も少なくない。いっぽう西夏文字そのものは,スキャナで原資料の複写から画像データとして取り込みを行った。現在テキストデータとの効率的・効果的なリンクの方法を研究中である。また西夏語研究の文献目録については,京都大学大学院の荒川慎太郎氏に協力をお願いし,まず日本語部分の中心をなす西田龍雄教授の研究業績の一覧を作成することから開始した。今後は日本語部分については西田教授以外の研究成果を補うと共に,多量の研究の蓄積のある中国語部分とロシア語部分の整備を進めたい。なお,本年度の研究成果のうち,音訳漢字と対訳漢語語彙のテキストデータ(日本語JIS漢字版)と西田龍雄教授西夏研究業績一覧については,重点領域研究「人文科学とコンピュータ」1997年度成果報告書において公開される予定である。
