東京・大阪・名古屋の3証券取引所に一部上場している企業を対象に、有価証券報告書を用いて、1951年から1993年におけるメインバンクの有無、メインバンクからの借入金、メインバンクによる株式保有比率、メインバンクからの役員派遣状況を調査し、財務データベースと結合したデータベースを作成した。現在そのデータベースを使って分析中であり、研究成果の公表には至っていないが、特定の金融機関と長期的で安定的な関係を続けており、株式保有や役員派遣の点でつながりの深い企業ほど、経営不振期において金融機関から低いコストで資金調達することが可能であることが確認された。一方、企業の利益率や成長率に対して、特定の金融機関との結び付きの強さは有意な影響を与えていなかった。
