项目摘要

居住施設入所や病気などによって療養を余儀無くされる等の危機的環境移行に直面した高齢者それぞれが人生の中で育んできた自分自身の環境を連続させることが非常に難しいという実態がある。この「不連続性」は当事者の生活の質を著しく低下させる要因の一つである。本研究は、高齢者の人生を尊重し連続的に環境を改変していく状況を提供することの重要性と意義について明らかにすることを目的とした。まず、(1)居住場所の連続性の重要性について明らかにするために、在宅療養中の高齢者と居住施設在住の高齢者に地域での活動の記憶等を中心としたインタビューを行い分析をした。特に(2)痴呆性高齢者の「環境行動における連続性」という視点の重要性が示唆される結果を得、在宅及び特別養護老人ホーム居住の痴呆性高齢者の環境行動全般の観察調査とインタビューを行い分析した。この点については「環境行動の能力」という新たな視点からの研究に展開中である。(3)環境の記憶や地域社会や住宅内の情報を生きた環境の一部として積極的に認識することによって「連続性」を担保するという発想から、様々な性質の映像情報(昔住んでいた場所のこと、近所の商店街の今日の様子等)を見ることで被験者(在宅療養中、施設在住高齢者)の呈する反応について分析を行った。(4)次に、継続的に映像情報をデリバリーされる環境が提供された時の反応について、生活全般に介護の必要な在宅療養中の高齢者にその家族が行う映像情報デリバリーと外出をあまりしない軽費老人ホームの高齢者に対する調査者によるデリバリーを実験的に試み分析をした。療養中の被験者に対しては、「住宅内」の情報のニーズも含めて実験を行っている。(5)より豊かな活動を誘発する映像情報を探るために高齢者の日常生活の中の話題と特に生活の上で最も大切な「食」を中心とした情報提供の可能性についてディサービス利用者を中心にアンケートを行い分析をした。映像情報デリバリーの考え方を理論的裏づけを持つサービス、手法として発展させることを目標に研究を継続している。
