项目摘要

本研究の目的は,日英語における名詞化補文の特性を意味的・機能的視座から比較・対照しながら、両言語の情報構造と伝達機能の個別性と普遍性を明らかにすることである。本年度は、平成11年度に得られた基礎的資料と研究成果を踏まえて、問題点を整理し、日英語に関する情報理論や認知理論の枠組みで、日英語の名詞化補文がどのように位置づけられるかについて検討した。「空間」概念を認知基盤として情報を言語化するin that節と「時間」概念を基盤とするnow that節とを比較しながら、in that節は時間関係に基づく継起性を表現し得ないことも検証した。日本語の名詞化補文「の」節と「で」から成る「ので」については、以前の状況が変化・移行した結果的状況として成立している現況に基づいて既定性が保証される場合と、事物に本来的に備わっている特徴や性質に基づいて既定性が保証される場合とがあることを論じた。それぞれの既定性を表現する「ので」節は、対応する英語においてnow that節とin that節という異なる言語形式によって表出されることなど、平成11年度の研究成果を発展、深化させつつ多角的に検証した。また、日本語の「の」名詞節に対応する疑似分裂文の前提部分がどのような要素を焦点化するのかについても併せて検討した。実際の談話や発話場面を分析し、日英語の名詞化補文の生起と語用論的要請の関係を論じた点も本研究の特徴のひとつである。本研究で得られた言語学的知見が英語教育、日本語教育でどのような教育的意義をもつのかについても明らかにした。
