他者感情推論に関わるワーキングメモリ容量を測定するためのテストを開発した。他者の発話を次々と聞き発話者の感情を判定・報告しながら、各発話の先頭の単語(または聞いている間に提示される別の単語)を記憶するというものである。発話者の気持ちの報告方法(口頭、筆記、選択式)、個々の発話間の連続性の有無(連続発話が一連のストーリーになっているかいないか)、記憶した単語の報告方法(口頭、筆記、再認)をいろいろと変えて、実施方法として有用性やテストとしての妥当性を調べた結果、以下のことが明らかとなった。1.発話者の感情の報告方法は、パソコンの画面上に呈示される4つの選択肢の中から選んで反応させる方法(選択式)がよい。口頭報告や筆記報告では、実験参加者による回答の質的なばらつきを統制できない。2.個々の発話間に連続性があるほうが良い。発話間の連続性がない材料では、共感性を測定する質問紙との相関が出にくい。連続性のある材料では、想像力に関係する尺度と相関が見られた(男性の場合)。女性の場合は相関が見られなかったが、これは、感情的共感に関わる質問紙では女性は社会的望ましさにより全体的に得点が高くなる傾向があるため相関が出にくかったと解釈すれば、このテストはそのような影響を受けにくい優れたテストである可能性が示唆されたものと考えることもできる。3.記憶した単語の報告方法について、集団での実施の可能性を探って筆記報告や再認(発話を聞いている間にパソコンの画面上に呈示される単語を記憶し、後で再認する)の有効性を調べた。これらについては、発話間の連続性がない材料で実施したため(質問紙との相関は見られなかった)、現時点ではその妥当性や有効性について評価を下すことができない。今後、発話間に連続性のある材料でさらに検討を進めていく。
