化学教育にはCAIソフトウェアが必要であるが,日本にはその多くの種類のものはなく,学術レベルで検討が始められたところである。そして文部省主導型ではなく,研究者主導型でソフトウェアの開発がすすめられている。故に、本研究を萌芽的なものと認定され研究費の補助金を交付されたことで、ソフトウェアの開発と流通に大きく貢献できたと思われる。本研究の成果として,かねてから学術交流のあったアメリカ化学会プロジェクトSERAPHIM(アメリカを中心に英語圏において化学教育に関するソフトウェアを開発し流通させている学術団体)の管理しているソフトウェア77種について配布委託を受け,日本で無償利用ソフトウェアとして配布している。補助金で購入したパソコンIBMAT機とMacintosh桟はSERAPHIMソフトウェアの管理に使用しているこの他に,化学教育ソフトウェアの国際交流に関する研究発表を3回行なった。タイで開催された第12回国際化学教育会議(1992年12月),大阪で開催された日本化学会第63春季年会(1992年3月),新潟で開催された日本化学会第64秋季年会(1992年10月)で国際交流の重要化について報告した。国際交流の実は,英国を中心にヨーロッパにおいて同じような活動を行なっているCTI Centrefr Chemistry (Dr.Walker)のほか,カナダ,タイ,スロベーニアなどの研究者と,この分野で国際交流を進め,情報文換を実施している。

Chemistry education is necessary, Japan is necessary, and academic education is necessary. The Ministry of Education is leading the way, and the researcher is leading the way. Therefore, this research is the first to recognize the grant of research fees, and the development of the project is a major contribution. The results of this study include the management of SERAPHIM(a central English-language academic organization for chemical education), the distribution of 77 kinds of software, and the free use of software in Japan. The grant was used to purchase IBMAT machines and Macintosh software for the management of SERAPHIM software, and other research projects related to chemical education software and international exchanges. The 12th International Conference on Chemical Education (December 1992), the 63rd Spring Annual Meeting of the Japanese Chemical Society (March 1992), and the 64th Autumn Annual Meeting of the Japanese Chemical Society (October 1992) were held in Osaka, Japan. CTI Centrefr Chemistry (Dr. Walker) is a research center for international communication and information exchange.
