The purpose of this research project is to elucidate the formation processes of the early agricultural societies and their Yayoi culture complex in eastern Japan, and moreover, pursuit the major factors of the cultural and social change from Jomon to Yayoi period in this district.We have carried out our research project and got the results following ;(1) We analyzed the archaeological materials recoverd from Nakagami site, Hanaizumi, Iwate prefecture. And, we throwed light on the burial systems of the Yayoi culture in northeastern Japan. In this site we investigated burial urns, which were fitted into each other's mouth, and probably used for infant burials in the mid-stage of middle Yayoi age. The burial system in northern Tohoku district is very different from the secodary interment of the southern Tohoku region. In conclusion, the development of the culture is very complex in this district.(2) The analysis of the remains from the Nakagami site elucidated the transformation of material cultures, especially pottery type of these periods.(3) We collected the archaeological evidences of basins of the Mabechi and Niida river in the transition period. Particularly, we got the important data of Ongagawa pottery type which is transfered from western Japan to these districts.(4) We elucidated the change of the settlement systems and material cultures of this transitional period in the area of Kitakami dranage and Sendai plain.

本研究旨在阐明日本东部地区早期农业社会及其弥生文化情结的形成过程，并探寻该地区绳文至弥生时期文化社会变迁的主要因素。（1）对岩手县花泉中上遗址出土的考古材料进行了分析。而且，我们在日本东北部的弥生文化的埋葬系统上投下了光。在这个遗址中，我们调查了葬瓮，这些瓮相互配合，可能用于弥生时代中期的婴儿墓葬。东北北方地区的土葬制度与东北南部地区的土葬制度有很大的不同。总之，该地区的文化发展是非常复杂的。(2)通过对中上遗址出土文物的分析，阐明了这一时期物质文化的变迁，特别是陶器类型的变迁。(3)我们收集了马贝池河和新田河流域在过渡时期的考古证据。特别是从日本西部地区传入这些地区的女川陶型，获得了重要的资料。(4)阐述了这一过渡时期北上流域和仙台平原地区聚落制度和物质文化的变迁。
