1970年代後半からのいわゆる安定成長期に入ってからのわが国経済において特徴的な点を、フロー面からみると、雇用者所得を中心にして、国民所得に占める家計部門の比重が大きく増大したことであり、ストック面を国民経済計算上の国富についてみると、家計部門が、70年代半ばの60%から80年代末に72%を占めるまでに比重を高めたことである。家計部門の動向を金融資産に焦点を合わせてみると、次第に収益性の高いものにシフトする傾向が特徴となっている。80年代後半のいわゆるバブル経済期に生じた家計の証券投資の増加や生命保険貯蓄の増加は、金融自由化に伴う高収益性金融商品の登場に、家計が敏感に反応したことを示す好例といえる。他方、高度成長期まで一貫して資金供給部門であり続けた家計は、80年代に入ってから、消費者ローンやクレジットの利用の増大、不動産価格の上昇に影響された住宅ローン借り入れ額の増大などによって、資金需要部門としての性格を強めてきている。こうした傾向の中心となっているのは30〜40才代であり、この点は、高度成長期以来の所得水準の大幅な上昇の恩恵をうけた60才以上の世代で、既に住宅の取得が済んでおり、また、不動産価格の上昇とも相俟って、所有実物資産価値の実質的な上昇と金融資産の蓄積が大きく進んだのとは対象的である。消費者ローンやクレジット・カードの20才代への普及や住宅ローンの借り入れ期間の長期化などの現象を考慮すると、家計が従来のような安定的で潤沢な資金供給部門としての地位を維持しうるかどうかはかなり不確定的であり、そのあり方次第では、マクロ経済動向も大きく影響を受けることになると考えられる。なお、本研究の対象時期は1980年代以降であったが、資料的な制約によって、本報告書提出の時点で、分析の中心は1980年代末までに限られることになった。この研究成果は、現在、近日中に学術雑誌に発表する予定で取りまとめ中である。
