本研究は『源氏物語』古注釈書の総合的な索引(固有名詞+一般語彙)を作成し、かつ、フロッピィディスク化することが目的であった。平成四年度は、公刊されている古注釈書の再検討、および公刊されていない古注釈書の発掘をめざして、資料蒐集を行った。特に最重要と考えられる『河海抄』は底本の再検討と本文校訂の必要があり、できるかぎりの写本を点検すべく、紙焼の蒐集と現地調査を行ったのだが、その分量が厖大であり、予算も限られていることから、蒐集しえたのはほんの一部分にすぎなかった。『校本河海抄』の作成とそれに基づく索引作りは一、二年でできることではなく、また、並大抵の予算ではなしえないことが判明。一方、統一的採択基準作りも予想外の難問であることが判明した。平成五年度は諸資料に蒐集と調査を続けつつ、『異本紫明抄』宮内庁本と黒川本を対校。黒川本を例として固有名詞・主要述語などのカード化と採択基準の検討を行った。
