项目摘要

(1)20世紀後半のある時期の世界史構造をパクス・アメリカ-ナの構造と呼びうるとして、より詳細にその時代とは20世紀後半のいつを指すのか。今年の研究を通して、1945年から1968年までを世界史におけるパクス・アメリカ-ナの時代と呼び得ることを確認した。(2)パクス・アメリカ-ナとよぶ国際秩序の構造は、いかなる特徴を有したか。本年の研究を通して、その国際秩序は、アメリカ合衆国の経済的優位を通して成立した、合衆国を中心とする国際的政治秩序という理解のほかに、合衆国の軍事力を重視する必要があることを確認した。パクス・アメリカ-ナは、合衆国の巨大な経済力と軍事力が生みだしたところの、合衆国が支配的影響力を行使した国際関係であり、国際政治社会秩序であった。(3)パクス・アメリカ-ナの基礎となった合衆国の経済力および軍事力は、直接的には第2次世界大戦中に蓄積された。とくに大戦中に合衆国が原爆の開発に成功したことは、その後の合衆国の世界政治に対する軍事的影響力に大きな意味をもった。その意味で原爆の開発・投下の過程を詳細に分析する必要を認識し、基礎的な文献蒐集を行った。(3)一方、合衆国が第2次大戦後の世界政治また経済秩序のあり方にどのような構想をもったかについては、合衆国の国連構想、勢力圏構想、多角的自由貿易体制の構想を別個に検討していく必要があり、それらについても資料の蒐集と、基礎的な分析を終えた。(4)合衆国が経済力、さらに軍事力を行使して、ヨーロッパの再建、およびアジアの国際政治に影響を与え始めるのは、ひろくいえば第二次大戦後である。しかし、その契機となった事情については、まだ未解明な問題が多い。ヨーロッパにおけるマーシャル・プラン、NATOの成立、東アジアにおける冷戦の開始状況を検討する必要があった。これらについても資料蒐集と基礎的分析を終えた。
