The project aims to digitize seven political newspapers from the Halle-Merseburg region. They will be published in open access on the DINI-certified DSpace repository Share_it of the ULB Saxony-Anhalt. This will also enable the digital copies to be recorded in the GBV catalogue, the Ha:Lit discovery system, and delivered to the Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek and Europeana. Searchable full text of the newspapers will be generated with the help of the OCR technology Tesseract. In addition, the newspapers will be structured on the level of individual issues (Grundstandard 2).
