本研究において、日本とフランスの政治についての本格的研究を準備することを念頭において、両国の研究状況を知るため日本とフランスの政治についての文献の検討を中心とし、その上で、日本の日仏政治研究者のネットワークを作り上げることに重点をおいた。この作業を通じて、一橋大学の社会学者、梶田孝道教授と共同研究を計画し、95年度の科学研究費に申請を行った。また、アメリカの財団Social Science Research Councilを通じて、Harvard大学教授、Peter Hall氏と共同で日仏比較の研究プロジェクトの組織を開始した。他方、申請者自身の研究としては、両国の政治経済体制を政治文化の観点から解釈することを試みた。従来、フランスと日本は、国家論の観点からともに強力でエリート主義的な官僚制の存在によって「強い国家」の典型に分類されてきた。また、両国とも極く最近まで、急進的な左翼が主要勢力として存在し、厳しいイデオロギー対立を繰り返してきた。他方、政治文化の観点からは、フランスの個人主義文化と日本の集団主義とが全く対照的なものとして、指摘されてきた。これらの要素をどう統一的に理解するかというのが、日仏比較の最大の論点となるが、本年度の研究においては、トクヴィル的な意味での「農民的個人主義」がフランスばかりでなく、日本にも当てはまると考え、この解釈によって、日仏の類似性を統一的に検出できることを明らかにした。この仮説の検証の鍵となるのは、多数の中小企業の存在であり、デュアリズム理論によって、競争原理がフランスでも日本でも独特の形で存在することを示し得た。

This study focuses on the preparation of political research in Japan and the research status of Japan. With this explanation, the similarity between Japan and China can be unified. The key to this theory is that most small and medium-sized enterprises exist in Japan.
