项目摘要

本年度の研究は、前年度における松下大衆社会論の理論内在的再検討に引き続き、松下政治学の前提にある、いわゆる「市民政治理論」の吟味を行なった。昨年度の研究においては、マルクス的な理論枠組みを持つ松下理論を「マルキシアン・アプローチ」と暫定的に呼んだが、それでは単に戦後日本の社会科学の左翼的傾向性のみに還元されてしまう危険性があるため、本年度にはむしろ、松下政治学のもともとの構想であったはずの、20世紀政治理論の構造的「転回」としての大衆社会論を明らかにするべく、その前提にある松下氏の「市民政治理論」理解を再検討した。その際、氏のロック研究そのものに深入りするよりもむしろ、氏が「社会・主義」(society-ism)として理解する、ロックからマルクスに至るとされる共通の理論・思想構造-自由な個人の結合体としての「市民社会」という発想-を改めて明らかにし、それが20世紀にどのように「転回」したと氏が論じたのかを浮き彫りにするよう努めた。1950年代当時の「論争」にあっては、ほとんど正面からトータルに理解されることのなかった松下政治学の理論構造は、90年代の氏の政治学においても基本的に変わっていない。それを肯定するにせよ批判するにせよ、まず松下政治学の全体的な読みなおしが必要となる。本年度の研究は、前年度の業績と合わせて、その基礎的作業をなし得たものと考える。これらを前提として、氏の大衆社会論を当時の知的コンテクストにもう一度戻し、氏の議論がいかに誤読されたかという歴史的再構成とともに、松下政治学の持つ今日的意義(特にラディカル・デモクラシー論との理論的連関性)という理論的問題が、今後の課題となる。
