1.本研究は、近代ヨーロッパにおける人口動態と家族構造の変化を分析することによって、この時期の子ども観の変容を明らかにすることである。まず人口動態の変化については、歴史人口学の研究成果から子ども数、出産回数、子どもの死亡率などの人口動態学的指標に即して子ども観の変動要因を抽出するための先行研究を渉猟した。また、家族史研究の成果からは、生物学的な再生産のメカニズムを支配する「家族戦略」の史的変容のプロセスを明らかにするために、求愛行動の文化、完成家族規模、家内集団などについての先行研究を渉猟した。2.これらの調査研究うによって得られた新たな知見の一部は、近代教育思想史研究会第5会大会(1995. 8. 28)のフォーラムにおいて「教育の歴史人類学の可能性について-再生産の歴史人類学を中心に」と題して口頭発表した。また、本年度の研究計画における中間考察の一部は、比較家族史学会編『事典・家族』(弘文堂,1996. 2)に所収の「育児」「サイコヒストリー」「心性」「若者」「求愛行動」「完成家族規模」「擬制的親子関係」「求婚滞在」「家族復元法」「バンドリング」「ドナージュ」「ヴェイエ」「ワルプルギスの夜」「ゴットファーザ-」「ヨーロッパ的結婚パターン」「付き添い慣習」など合計18項目の執筆に反映している。3.初年度としては、文献収集が多岐にわたったこともあって、このテーマに収斂する領域の基礎的な情報収集とそのデータベース化に多大の人件費と相当の時間を要したが、すでに絶版になった文献も多く、労多くして実り少なしの感は否めない。しかし、収集できた文献からだけでも、子ども観の変容に及ぼした人口動態・家族構造の変化の概要はつかむことができたので、次年度以降はこの作業をさらに徹底してすすめる予定である。
