We divided one thousand years of the history of Muslim community into the following three periods : the formative period (9-13 centuries), the developmental period (14-19 centuries) and the changing period (19 century and later). Each period was studied by research groups a, b and c respectively. Although the research activities of the groups are primarily independent to each other, we had consensus that we pay attention to the shifting periods from one period to the other and take into consideration the comparison with areas other than Central Asia. We had also consensus that finding and using of primary sources form the very area are indispensable for studying Muslim communities "from the inside".The primary result of this study is the development of not only common kinds of sources such as chronicles but also so far unused sources such as Sufi literatures including hagiographies and genealogies, documents, epigraphy, newspapers, research reports, and so on. Especially, we successfully put on track the process of digitalization, classification and description of the vast amount of Islamic court document preserved in research institutes of the area in collaboration with the Ichan-Qala Museum, the Samarqand National Museum of History, Architecture and Art, and Ferghana Regional Museum, the Republic of Uzbekistan.Another result is that concrete images of the communities of the each period were clarified through our studies based on the above mentioned sources. Especially, it is no exaggeration to say that historical studies based on Islamic court documents were launched in earnest only through our research project. In addition, our knowledge and skill gained through this study were shared among Japanese researchers through "research seminar on Central Asian diplomatics" held four times in Kyoto University of Foreign Studies every March.

我们将穆斯林社会一千年的历史分为以下三个时期：形成时期（9-13世纪）、发展时期（14-19世纪）和变化时期（19世纪及以后）。每个时期分别由a、B、c三个研究组进行研究。虽然各小组的研究活动基本上是相互独立的，但我们一致认为，我们注意从一个时期到另一个时期的转变时期，并考虑到与中亚以外地区的比较。我们也一致认为，寻找和使用来自该地区的原始资料对于“从内部”研究穆斯林社区是必不可少的。这项研究的主要结果是，不仅开发了诸如编年史等常见类型的资料，而且还开发了迄今为止未使用的资料，如苏菲文献，包括圣徒传和家谱，文件，金石学，报纸，研究报告等。我们与Ichan-Qala博物馆、撒马尔罕国家历史、建筑和艺术博物馆以及费尔干纳地区博物馆合作，成功地对该地区研究机构保存的大量伊斯兰法庭文件进行了数字化、分类和描述，另一个成果是，通过我们根据上述资料来源进行的研究，澄清了每个时期社区的具体形象。特别是，可以毫不夸张地说，只有通过我们的研究项目，才能认真开展基于伊斯兰法庭文件的历史研究。此外，每年3月在京都外国语大学举办了4次“中亚地理学研究研讨会”，在日本的研究人员中分享了通过本研究获得的知识和技能。
