女性の継続就労と管理職登用の課題を、小中学校教員を対象とした歴史的事例から考察する本研究では、当初たてた研究計画の一部を変更しつつ、おおむね初年度に必要な作業を終えることができた。(1) まず、女性労働史研究の方法論の検討については、教育研究における小中高校の女性管理職出現過程の研究や、労働過程論におけるジェンダー間職務分離に関する研究の文献リストを作成し、読み進めた。(2) 日教組教育図書館に所蔵されている『日教組運動資料（婦人）』『日教組婦人部総会・委員会資料』『日教組婦人部報』から該当資料を収集した。また、国立国会図書館関西館に所蔵されている木村松子准教授の博士論文をもとに、小中教員の背後に位置付く、1980年代の日教組婦人部の運動展開を考察した。(3) 小中学校教員へのインタビュー調査も進めた。調査対象者は、1960年代から1970年代前半に教員となり、1980年代に育児をしながら継続就労をしてきた女性教員である。退職女性教員7名に調査をし、さらに、比較対象として、管理職（校長）に到達した女性教員1名の合計8名への調査を遂行した。以上の成果を、国際ジェンダー学会2016年度大会（平成28年9月）、日本労働社会学会（平成28年10月）にて報告し、ジェンダーと社会政策の専門家や、女性教員の管理職登用を研究してきた専門家から助言をもらった。また、平成29年3月には、研究会「家族と労働をジェンダーで説く」を静岡大学で開催し、隣接分野の研究推進の相乗効果をはかった。
