项目摘要

本研究は、テロ組織による「犯行声明」の表明、その動態を理論的・実証的に明らかにすることを目的とした。本研究は、理論構築部分、実証部分で構成され、大きく以下の３つの課題に応える。(1)なぜテロ組織は犯行声明を行うのか（行わないのか）、(2)犯行声明の表出がテロ組織の活動にいかなる影響を及ぼすのか、(3)これらの課題について、先行研究をベースに仮説を構築し、その妥当性をデータを用いて実証。(1)、(2)について、本研究では、テロ組織による犯行声明の表出は、テロ組織の戦略的思考の結果と捉え、特にテロ組織と支持住民との相互関係に着目する。上記研究課題において、本年度はテロ組織が用いる特定の戦略が、当該地域の住民の態度に如何なる影響をあたえ得るのか検討ならびにデータを用いた検証を行った。特に、1980年代以降、多くのテロ組織によって頻繁に用いられることとなった自爆テロに焦点を当て、自爆テロという人的・物的資源のかかる戦略を実行することによって、テロ組織は自らの政治目的に対するコミットメントを確保し、その結果、組織に対する人的資源の確保を行う、という仮説を構築した上で、実際にデータを用いて検証を行った（ベクトル自己回帰モデル）。その結果、自爆テロの増加は組織に対する人員の増加に繋がるが、逆の方向性は発生しない点が明らかとなった（×人員増加→自爆テロ）。本研究結果は、テロ組織による手法の戦略的選択と地域住民への影響を考える上で、重要な結果となる。加えて、本年度はプロジェクト初年度であり、可能な限り理論的説明を多角的に検討するため、International Studies Associationなど国際学会にて発表を行い、各国の研究者からフィードバックを得るとともに、意見交換を行った。

This study aims to demonstrate the dynamic nature of criminal behavior. This study consists of three parts: theoretical construction and practical demonstration.
