蛋白質結晶周辺の湿度を変化させ、結晶内のバルク水量を非破壊・可逆的に制御可能な装置の開発を進め、湿潤空気流量300~450ml/minで相対湿度20~96%rhの範囲で実験を行うことが可能な装置とその実験手順を確立し各種蛋白質結晶に適用した。サブゼロ温度領域で蛋白質のダイナミクスを探る実験、種々の蛋白質結晶についての構造解析、分子動力学計算を通じた蛋白質の運動と水和構造変化の相関解析も実施した。
