本研究の目的は、日本語の「～て」、「～つつ」、「～ながら」のような動作が行われる際の主体や対象の付帯的な様子を表す節（＝付帯状況節）の構造変化を通時的な調査に基づいて実証的に解明することである。今年度は主に（1）「～て」、「～つつ」、「～ず」、「～ながら」に関する用例調査・分析、（2）「付帯状況」という術語・概念に関する研究史の整理、（3）中古和文資料のデータベース構築の3点に取り組んだ。（1）については、既に分析を進めていた「～て」、「～つつ」に加え、「～ず」を対象とした用例調査を実施し、総合的な考察を試みた。具体的には、付帯状況を表す非対格自動詞節のうち節内に対象主語を含む用例を取り上げ、上代から中世にかけての用例調査を実施し、分析を行った。これらの調査・分析の結果を論文にまとめ、査読付き全国学会誌に投稿した。また、「～ながら」についても用例調査を実施し、（1）の各形式との比較を行うために考察の観点を整理した。（2）については、日本語学において「付帯状況」という術語がどのように用いられてきたかということを辿り、整理を試みた。特に分析の対象とする形式ごとの差異や「付帯状況」の英訳に関する課題について検討を実施し、論文として公表するための準備を進めた。（3）については、『日本語歴史コーパス』等のデータベースに収録されていない中古和文資料のひとつである『夜の寝覚』を対象として、データベース構築に着手した。具体的には電子テキストを作成し、形態素解析を施し、形態素解析の誤りを人手で修正する作業を進めた。
