世界の約7割、日本でも約6割もの人が小児期に児童虐待、家庭内暴力、家族の薬物使用といったトラウマや逆境体験（ACEs）（以下「トラウマ」）を経験しているという報告がある。トラウマ体験は長期にわたって我々の心身および脳の発達に深刻な影響をもたらし、数多くの精神症状や身体疾患の発症リスクを増大させることが示されている。さらに、トラウマ体験は患者の治療意欲や疾病管理行動（適切な食事や服薬等）に悪影響を及ぼすことも示唆されている。そのため、医療において早期に患者のトラウマによる影響に気づき、対応することが重要である。トラウマインフォームドケア（TIC）とは、トラウマが個人に及ぼし得る影響を理解し、当事者がトラウマに影響を受けている可能性があることを想定した上で、当事者とケア提供者両者のメンタルヘルスを大事にしながらサービスを提供するアプローチを指す。西欧諸国の医療現場では、患者のトラウマによる影響に対応するために、トラウマインフォームドケア（TIC）の実践が行われている。一方、わが国の医療ではTICが浸透しているとは言い難い。そこで本研究は、医療従事者によるTICの知識と理解の実態把握、医療従事者を対象としたTIC研修プログラムの開発、開発したTIC研修プログラムの効果測定、を目的とする。これまでの研究の成果として、医療におけるTIC普及の現状を文献研究やアメリカの研究者との交流を通して学び、得られた情報をもとに研修プログラムの開発を進めている。さらに、研修を実施する医学部附属病院との関係性を強化し、研究実践の土壌を築けるよう尽力した。
