This study elucidates primitivistic body representation as well as Russian primitivism in connection with the image of body in literary Modernism by examining primary sources such as theatrical arts in early 20th-century ballet performance by Diaghilev’s Russian Ballet, English body culture, their criticism and Modernist literature in England. It also relocates primitivist body representation in the transformation of the concept of body caused partly by the manipulation of body images during the turn of the century.

本研究通过考察20世纪初佳吉列夫的俄罗斯芭蕾舞团的芭蕾表演中的戏剧艺术、英国身体文化、他们的批评和英国现代主义文学等主要来源，阐明了原始主义的身体再现以及俄罗斯原始主义与文学现代主义中身体形象的联系。它还重新定位了原始主义的身体表征在身体概念的转变部分造成的操纵身体意象在世纪之交。
