Environment and Development in Asia

本文研究了全球化对环境的主要影响。更具体地说，分析了跨国企业的积极和消极影响。首先，研究指出了销售增长、成本降低、风险规避等因素激励企业进行环境保护投资；其次，分析了跨国企业不执行其国内标准的案例。关于官方发展援助，过多的条件可能导致捐助者从项目中抽调资金，这反过来又给受援国的捐助者造成危险。Navumada dums项目就是这样一个案例，本文也对中国的案例进行了详细的讨论。最后，本研究提出了政府和当地社区的几点建议。第一，有人建议受援国政府应将环境问题纳入宏观经济规划。第二，发达国家政府应考虑国际合作的可行性；第三，总体上强调了非政府组织的作用，本研究项目非常成功。

In this research, major impacts of globalization on environment were studied. More specifically, positive and negatie impacts of multinational enterprises were analysed. First, the research pointed out various factors-sales increase, cost reduction, risk aversion-which motivate firms to invest in environmental protection, second, cases where multinational enterprises do not apply their donestic standards weve analysed. With regaeds to the ODA, the excessive conditionalities can lead donors with draw from the projects, which inturn cause modal hazard donors in the recipient countries. Navumada dums project was such a case, and the cases of china were simlarly discussed in this paper, in ditails. Lastly this research proposed goverments and local communities seveval points. First, it was suggested that the gaverments in the receipient countries should incorporate enironmental issues into macro economic planning. Second, goverments of developed countries should disccsthe franecovk of international cooperation, Third, the roks of NGO were emphasired overall, this reserch project was very successful.
