Due to their high relevance in the human organism, many medical research techniques focus on the identification of proteins. Such proteins exert their function independently of each other, but form complex networks with other proteins or biomolecules. Understanding these interactions is crucial to understanding the (patho-) physiological role of the protein in question. More and more scientists of the Medical Faculty of the RWTH Aachen University are interested in using Surface plasmon resonance as readout parameter in their scientific projects. These Surface plasmon resonance systems can not only bring their research closer to clinical application, but are also very well suited as a hypothesis generating system to develop completely new projects.A considerable number of scientists, both from the Faculty of Medicine of the RWTH as well as from the Homburg cooperation partners of the SFB/TRR219, have expressed considerable need and interest in Surface plasmon resonance, especially in the context of the SFB/TRR219, including 5 departments with 15 scientific directors, which clearly shows how relevant this tool is for the members of the Faculty of Medicine to achieve their important research goals now and in the future.
