国際鉱物学連合総会及び学会(IMA : International Mineralogical Association)は4年毎に行われる鉱物科学分野における,国際学会であり、第17期日本学術会議鉱物学研究連絡委員会は数年に渉って誘致に努力を重ねてきた.その結果1998年8月にカナダ,トロントで開かれた第17回の国際会議総会で,2006年日本での開催提案が受理された.このたび2002年9月に開催されたIMA(英国エディンバラ)のIMA第18回総会で神戸開催が正式決に定された.それに伴って誘致委員会をIMA2006-KOBE組織委員会に改組して、具体的な企画を検討を行う必要がある。本科学研究費補助金は2006年開催のための組織委員会活動に用いられた。なお日本における開催は,1970年に京都会議(第10回)以来,36年ぶりの開催となる.第18期研連委員会では,組織委員会の立ち上げを関係学会に依頼を行ってきた.日本鉱物学会,日本岩石鉱物鉱床学会,資源地質学会の3学会と連絡・協議し,また各学会の評議員とその他の賛同者に呼び掛け,数回の会合を経て国際学会開催組織委員を立ち上げた.組織委員長として山中高光(本研究代表者)が選ばれた.既に数回の準備委員会に於いて神戸国際会議場で開催することが決定されたが、平成14年10月3日に行われた組織委員会で各種委員会(事務局,企画委員会,財務委員会,現地会場委員会(LOC),プログラム委員会,巡検委員会)を発足した.そのご各委員会の委員長、副委員長会合を開き、今後の活動内容を討議した。国際会議代行業者を採用し、今後の国際会議の事業・運営に参画させることを決定した。具体的に代行業者の採用に当たり、数社からの見積もりを検討し業者を決定した。本企画研究補助金は,組織委員会活動,プログラム委員会活動を具体的に委員会を開催して行うための会合費,また9月に行われたIMA(英国エディンバラ)での宣伝活動としてのパンフレットの印刷費,巡検候補地の調査旅費などに利用した。時宜を得たテーマの,シンポジウム,有意義な内容の企画を行うため国際プログラム委員会の立ち上げも検討してきた。あわせて日本の特色を出すことが重要である.また広報活動により国際学会を成功させるためにhome pageなどの作成も検討してきた。本科学研究費助成金により以下のことを企画している.(1)2006年における時宜を得た魅力有るシンポジウム,プレナリーレクチャー、マイクロシンポジウムなどのサイアンスプログラム作成にあたり,海外の学会活動状況の調査,を初め国内外の研究状況,活気有る研究課題の希望調査をする.(2)国際会議の前後で行われる巡検地候補地の調査,韓国,中国,台湾も含めた候補地選びを巡検地の予備調査と情報を収集する.(3)国際学会代行業者と学会運営計画と契約の精密な打ち合わせし、また広報活動として,home pageを作成する。(4)IMA2006-KOBEを成功させるために、今後プレシンポジウムを開催し、国内からもできるだけ多くの研究者の参加の勧誘を行う。

The International Mineralogical Association (IMA) has been working for four years on the division of the science of physics, the International Academy of Sciences, and the 17th Japan Academic Conference. The results of the 17th International Conference held in August 1998, and the opening proposal of Japan in 2006 were accepted. In September 2002, the 18th meeting of IMA(United Kingdom) was held and the formal decision was made. The IMA2006-KOBE Organizing Committee was reorganized, and specific plans were discussed. Several preparatory committees were held at the Kobe International Convention Center on October 3, 2014, and various organizing committees (Bureau, Planning Committee, Finance Committee, Local Conference Committee (LOC), Regional Committee, and Inspection Committee) were held. The chairman and vice-chairman of each committee shall meet to discuss the contents of future activities.
