国際鉱物学連合総会及び学会(IMA)は4年毎に行われる鉱物科学分野における,国際学会である.日本学術会議鉱物学研究連絡委員会は数年に渉って誘致に努力を重ね,その結果IMA第19回総会及び学術講演会を神戸開催が正式決定された.それに伴ってIMA2006-KOBE組織委員会が日本鉱物学会,日本岩石鉱物鉱床学会,資源地質学会の3学会と連絡・協議し,立ち上げられた.また今年度日本学術会議共同主催国際会議として認定された.組織委員会は組織委員長(山中高光,本研究代表者)を始め各種委員会(事務局,企画委員会,財務委員会,現地会場委員会(LOC),プログラム委員会,巡検委員会)の委員長および委員で構成される.その後委員長,副委員長会合を開き,今後の活動内容を討議してきた.国際会議代行業者を(株)コングレに決定,今後の国際会議の事業・運営に参画している.本企画研究補助金は,委員長,副委員長会議ならびに,拡大委員長会議,プログラム委員会会合費などのため旅費支給と会合費に用いた.また各委員会活動費に当てた.1.プログラム委員会では国際プログラム委員会組織を作りしシンポジウム,プレナリーレクチャー,マイクロシンポジウムなどのプログラム作成した.2.巡検委員会では巡検候補地を現地予備調査費に使用した.その結果国内の8巡検地を決定した.3.広報活動としてhomepageを作成した.ロゴマーク,メインテーマの公募を行い決定した.4.2004年8月にフィレンツエ(イタリア)で行われた国際地質学会(IGC)の際にIMA2006-KOBEへの参加勧誘活動を行った.またIMA Council Meetingで進捗状況を紹介した.5.First Circularを20,000部印刷し40国以上の関係学協会に送付した.国際会議のポスターを2000部印刷した.
