The system that enabled the data retrieval and the exchange on the Internet by defining the data for the computerization in the history chronology with XML was developed in this research. In addition, I made it as the digital contents that could recycle a supporting document of learning. The results of our studies is as follows.(1)Definition of XML of chronology dataIt was assumed that one year was shown as one data, and the Christian era and the history event of the age were described. As for the described history, multiple event are permitted. Moreover, tag that was able to define the category of three layers to express the feature of the data was prepared. This can be used for the facilitation of the change in the field when an electronic chronology is displayed. I introduced the parameter that B.C. became a minus to be able to do a sort by a year easily in the Christian era.(2)Construction of data exchange serverA server to exchange the chronology data on the Internet was constructed. The retrieval and the sorting to look for data necessary on this server were developed. This was implemented by ASP and XSLT.(3)Development and improvement of electronic chronology softwareA electronic chronology software that moves on Windows and Mac to advance the use of the chronology data is developed, and has been improved. The feature of this software is as follows.(a)Fields up to three can be displayed parallel, and the field can be changed ficeely while displaying them.(b)It is possible to retrieve it in a free word.(c)The XML document can be used directly.(4)Making of digital contents of history materialThe following contents were made.(a)A Digital map of Osaka and Akita City of Edo period by redrawing old maps(b)A QuickTime VR content of a Yabase doll, old toys come down from Edo period of Akita(c)A 3D graphic data eproduces a merchant house of Edo period of Akita
