The present request concerns the acquisition, the delivery, the installation, the commissioning, and the training to the use, of a single crystal X-ray diffraction setup equipped with a high brilliance micro-focused soft X-ray source and a very sensitive detector. The instrument specifications should allow for the collection of single crystal X-ray diffraction data and the crystal structure elucidation of a range of crystals that present difficulties such as weak diffraction intensity, fragility during transport or freezing, small size, or large unit cells. The instrument is to be integrated in the crystallography facility of the Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy of the University of Munich. It will serve diverse research projects and users from the Departments of Pharmacy (synthetic foldamers), Chemistry (organic materials), and Biochemistry (proteins), and accept users from other departments or universities.
