The control experiments using a grain sensor have conducted. The investigations were attempted by means of experimentation and theoretical examination, the aerodynamics of grain acted upon by the winnowing wind. Estimation the trajectory of a single grain and grains layer by conducting experiments and solving equations for dynamic balance was attempted. Moreover, the particle image velocimetry and the finite volume method were used to attempt visualization of the cleaning wind flow in order to improve the effectiveness of the winnowing wind.Simulating the trajectory of a grain of paddy in the winnowing chamber was aimed. The drag and lift coefficients of a grain of paddy were calculated and changing these coefficients due to changes in the direction of the grain were examined. As a result, the drag and lift coefficients can be expressed as a trigonometric function of the direction of the grain.The simulations of a grain and the layer in a wind tunnel with a known and stable wind velocity were attempted in order to clarify the trajectory. Dynamic equations for grains of paddy were formulated by considering all forces affecting the grain blown by the wind. It was found that it was possible to simulate the trajectory of a grain.Array of vectors for the wind flow in the winnowing chamber was investigated in order to improve the winnowing accuracy. The vectors generated by means of the FVM and PIV method. It was found that the results of the analysis using FVM and PIV coincide with results obtained by the anemometer, The wind maps obtained by these methods are expected to provide essential data for understanding the characteristics of the trajectories of grain and chaff These results demonstrate that the performance of the cleaning section can be estimated from the initial design.
