本企画調査は,将来の歯科医療者となるべき歯学部学生,歯科衛生士学校学生,歯科技工士学校学生に対する卒前から卒後そして生涯にわたる一貫した臨床教育・研修システムの構築,その中で学習および研修者の臨床能力の到達度についての客観的評価システムの開発・整備のために実施するものであり,現在研究している客観的臨床能力試験(Objective Structured Clinical Examination, OSCE)とStructured Clinical Operative Examination(SCOT)のシステム開発に役立てる目的で実施した。方法としては臨床能力評価法としてのOSCEとSCOTの実施状況と展望についてを,国内の医学,歯科医学教育機関,および欧米とくに米国を中心とする国外の医学,歯科医学教育機関についてアンケート,資料収集,聞き取り調査を採用し実施した。その結果,我が国における医学,歯科医学教育機関の大多数でOSCEを導入済みであったものの,内容の充実度についてはかなりのばらつきが認められた。特に医学部や歯学部学生については近い将来導入予定の共用試験との関連でかなり標準化された臨床能力評価方法が普及していたが,歯科衛生士学校学生,歯科技工士学校学生に対する能力測定法は,施設によってまちまちであり,OSCE導入の端緒についたところであった。一方,SCOTについては導入実績の認められた施設はごく少数に限られており,今後は本来の臨床能力を客観的に測定する手法について検討すべきであることが問題点として浮き彫りとなった。海外,特に米国では,臨床能力評価方法として我が国に先駆けてOSCEを導入しており各種認定医試験などに用いられている。また現在もカナダでは歯科医師国家試験にOSCEが導入されているなど総括評価としての信頼性や精度はきわめて高いものであった。
