We have studied on how to construct a 3D ubiquitous modeling environment which can be used in anytime and anyplace such as outdoor work. This environment has facilities to create 3D models, superimpose 3D real data on their model, and compute the slippage of both types of data in a virtual space. As an example of the environment, we took up a civil engineering environment and made a prototype system for this environment. This study has produced the following results :1. The 3D modeling system can easily create 3D models, deform them, map image texture and moving texture onto the surface of the model, and color its surface in a virtual space.2. The superimposition of 3D real data on its 3D model is developed. At first, this facility automatically generates 3D model data from a design sheet used for a civil engineering site to visualize a 3D plan of its targeted spot. Then, it computes the slippage of both 3D model data and its real data at high speed, displaying its slippage, that is, the difference between them visually.3. A regional area high-speed computer network environment and its issues are investigated. This is a ubiquitous environment which is available in anywhere, from anyplace, and by anybody. Using this environment, civil engineers working outdoors can easily send 3D data with their PDA's on site to a server and obtain the result, that is, a superimposed display and slippage.These results are published in various conference papers and journal papers.
