A fundamental study on the diagnosis of occiusal dysesthesia

There are patients who complain bite discomfort without evident occiusal abnormalities, and this is one of the frustrating problems in dentistry. Among the various etiologies of this condition, "occiusal dysesthesia", the abnormalities of occiusal sense might be considered as one of the factors. Therefore, in this study, the thickness discrimination ability in healthy young dentate indivisuals, elderly dentate indivisuals, patients with complete dentures, and occiusal dysesthesia patients. was examined to get the basic information to investigate the feature of "occlusal dysesthesia".The interdental thickness discrimination test was performed at maxillary and mandibular central incisors, canines, premolars and molars with 2-, 5-, and 10-mm thickness standard blocks.
