The structure of mental syllables in English and Japanese, and word processing in English

本研究的结果包括以下七个部分。(1)区分英语作为第二语言的普通学生和高级学生的最小阅读单元(2)不同英语熟悉程度的学生在平假名和罗马语中读出两个音节的声谱记录的比较(3)日本失读症男孩的口语阅读表现(4)第二语言辅音时长的近似模式：英语和日语的例子(5)为什么不规则单词的发音在痴呆症中保留下来，为什么它与病前智力高度相关？(6)重复潜伏期和持续时间作为第二语言能力的新指标(7)日语和英语非单词重复表现是否与英语语言能力相关？目前正在审查第一部分。第二个出现在知觉和运动技能。第七部分（日文）将刊登在日本日本英语教育学会（CASELE）研究公报上。剩下的部分将提交给英文期刊。

The results of this study consist of the following seven sections.(1)The minimal reading unit that differentiates average from advanced students of English as a second language(2)Comparison of spectrographic records of two syllables pronounced from scripts in hiragana and romaji by students with different familiarity with English(3)Oral reading performance in a Japanese dyslexic boy(4)Approximative patterns of L2 consonant duration learning : The case of English and Japanese(5)Why is pronunciation of irregular words preserved in dementia and why does it correlate highly with premorbid intelligence?(6)Repetition latency and duration as new indices of second language ability(7)Is Japanese and English nonword repetition performance associated with English language ability?The first section is now under review. The second one has appeared in Perceptual and Motor Skills. The seventh section (in Japanese) is to appear in CASELE (Chugoku Academic Society of English Language Education) Research Bulletin. The remaining sections are to be submitted to English journals.
