We have performed the various kinds of analyses for elucidating the functions of genes involved in tooth germ development, which were newly found in our previous study using cDNA subtraction methods. The results are:1. thymosin P4 (TB4): The detailed expression patterns of mRNA in tooth germ development are reported in our paper (See references, Akhter, M et al.). The organ culture system using antisense-oligonucleotide against TB4 mRNA suggested the TB4 is involved in early development of tooth germ formation. The yeast two hybrid experiment revealed an actin-binding protein, a MAP kinase signal transduction protein, a lipoprotein-binding protein, a protein involved in DNA repair, a transcriptional regulator, as the partner proteins of TB4.2. Phosphoglycerate kinase 1 (Pgk1): In situ hybridization study showed that Pgk1, an enzyme in glycolytic system, play an important role in tooth germ development, in a complex with GAPDH.3. Set-a: The yeast two hybrid study suggested a transcriptional regulator, an enzyme associated with ubiquitin system, etc. may be partner proteins for set-α.4. A novel cell-adhesion factor-like protein: This hypothetical protein belongs to Immunoglobulin superfamily. The yeast two hybrid study suggested that an actin-binding protein, a lectin associated protein, an extracellular matrix associated protein, a signal transduction protein, a protein associated with cadherin, etc. as the functional partner proteins.Furthermore, we published another work associated with type II/III Run×2/Cbfal and tooth development (See references, Kobayashi et al.)
