项目摘要

本研究は″語学教育の改革は辞書の構造的及び内容的な改革無しにはありえない″との問題提起と解決への努力の一貫として、大学受験生、大学生及び社会人のための英単語学習書を実用上の考慮からブックフォームとハイパーテキストフォームの両型で構築し、インターネットWWWを使い公開することを目指している。本年度はハイパー辞書のプロトタイプ設計とその作成に力点をおいている。ある代表的英和辞書プログレッシブ英和中辞典において基本的なものとして扱われている英単語など6191語について、印欧語根を調査したところ、判明率は71.5%であり、それらは596種のうち530種の印欧語根に由来している。また簡単なハイパー辞書インターフェースに、市販のリレーショナルデータベースシステムを用いて試作した。このインターフェースでは、ある単語を入力するとその単語の由来する印欧語根(最大4個)などを表示し、それぞれの印欧語根の隣のボタンをクリックすると、その語根についての説明と、同じ語根に由来する他の単語のリストを表示する。リスト中の単語をクリックすれば、さらにその単語について調べることができる。また、収録すべき見出し語の決定、また収録すべき印欧語根の決定をおこなった。単語集のレベル別調査ハイパー辞書の利用の対象となる英語学習者には様々なレベルが想定され、学習者に提示する英単語もそれぞれのレベルにあったものである必要がある。現在、国内外で市販されているものに含まれる単語集として、以下の資料を挙げ、そこに重要単語としてどのような英単語が含まれているかを調査した。American Heritage Dictionary第3版(1992)印欧語根表よりImportant derivatives、VIS-ED No.1,No.2,Science&Technical、TOEFL参考書、GRE参考書、英単語頻出案内(桐原書店刊)、英単語連想記憶術第1集〜第3集(青春出版社刊)英検準1級参考書(旺文社刊)より、採取した英単語は、延べ約15000語にのぼる。現在、これらすべての単語に対応する印欧語根についての調査を行っているところである。
