われわれの研究班の課題は、対内並びに対外の直接投資の進展が、研究開発支出や生産性上昇で計られる日本企業の活力にどのような影響を与えるかを分析することである。平成8年度は、対日直接投資と同一産業内の固定企業の研究開発支出の関係に焦点を当てて研究を行った。対内直接投資が拡大していったとき、それが自国企業の研究開発意欲にどのような影響を及ぼすかについては、競争促進効果を重視してプラスの影響を予想する議論と、利益減少効果を重視してマイナスの影響を予想する議論がある。製造業の中で近年の対日直接投資額が最も多い機械産業をとりあげ、その上場企業のパネルデータを作成し、対日直接投資などの産業別データと合わせて推定を行った。最も信頼できる推定結果である企業別要因と年度別要因の固定効果を入れた推定では、対日直接投資の係数はいずれも有意にマイナスの値をとっている。また、同時に説明変数として加えた、企業規模を表す変数、産業の輸入額、同一産業内の外資系企業の研究開発支出額はいずれも有意ではなかった。最後に、こうした対日直接投資の効果が、果たして日本企業と外資系企業を合わせた日本国内全体の研究開発支出額を減少させているかどうかを検討した。その結果、機械産業の中で電気機械産業では、対日直接投資によって日本企業の研究開発支出が減少するのを上回って、外資系企業の研究開発支出が増加し、国内全体の研究開発支出をむしろ増加させることが分かった。しかし、一般機械と輸送機械では、国内全体の研究開発支出額でみても、やはり対日直接投資は抑制的に働く。しかしながら、その効果は小さく、1%の対日直接投資増加が、これら産業の国内研究開発支出を100分の1%から2%減少させるに過ぎない。

The topics of the research team include the analysis of the impact of domestic and foreign direct investment, research development expenditure, and productivity growth on the vitality of Japanese companies. In FY2010, we conducted research on the relationship between direct investment and research and development expenditure of fixed enterprises in the same industry. The impact of domestic direct investment on the research and development of domestic enterprises is discussed. In recent years, the manufacturing industry has the largest direct investment volume, and the machinery industry has the largest direct investment volume. The estimation result of the most important factor of the enterprise and the fixed effect of the annual important factor are estimated, and the coefficient of direct investment of the day is calculated. The number of enterprises, the number of industries imported, and the amount of research and development expenditures of foreign-funded enterprises in the same industry are all intentional. Finally, the results of direct investment in Japan have been discussed. Japanese companies and foreign-funded companies have been cooperating to reduce overall research and development expenditures in Japan. As a result, research and development expenditures of Japanese companies decreased in direct investment in the machinery industry, research and development expenditures of foreign-funded companies increased, and research and development expenditures of domestic enterprises increased. General machinery and transportation machinery, domestic research and development expenditure, direct investment and control of the environment The results were a small increase in direct investment by 1% and a decrease in domestic research and development spending by 100%.
